sneak peek #2 : Luke & Tash

January 31st, 2011

After my initial post from Luke & Tash’s wedding last week, I really really can’t cut the shots for a proper sneak peek down, so sorry in advance for how many photos there are in this post!

Luke & Tash met through church, they are so so sweet and genuine, both of them are, just seriously, the loveliest couple you could ever meet. After ordering a dress from the internet that didn’t turn out quite perfect, Tash (a fashion designer) did the ultimate wedding DIY project : made her own dress!! She warned me a couple of months before the wedding that I needed to find an awesome staircase to show off her “really big” dress. Turns out she wasn’t lying, this may well be the largest wedding dress I’ve shot to date and it wasn’t the slightest bit overdone. I do love a good chilled out vinyard wedding, but I just can’t resist playing around with a big dress and bringing that extra bit of fashion style to a wedding*.

Luke & Tash were married at Life Christian Centre on Angas Street. After doing the formal family photos inside the church, we headed to Adelaide Uni to take advantage of the beautiful aritechture (and the shade). We then headed to the Benjamin on Franklin for some chill out time and some more photos in the cool air con. Thanks so much to the staff for making us so welcome (make sure you organise these types of things with the venue, they appreciate it)!

Tash had wanted two chandeliers, from her parents’ house, on the stage at the church, Luke told me when I arrived at the church that they weren’t allowed to use them, so I was very glad to see them just inside the reception venue, what a stunning personal touch!

Congratulations my lovelies, I hope you had a wonderful wedding day and you bring each other joy and happiness for many years to come. Thank you for the honour, it was truly a joy to photograph your wedding day.

*as long as we have time, no body wants to feel rushed on their wedding day, make sure you allow at least and hour and a half for your photography between your ceremony and reception, we had 3 hours this day and in 32 degree weather, we needed it

quick sneak peek : Luke & Tash

January 24th, 2011

I am flat out*, but just had to share this quick one with you from Luke & Tash’s wedding on the weekend (more on this dress to come). I don’t usually tear up at clients’ weddings, but these two got me and no wonder, just look at them!

a photo a day : 2011 : week 1

January 4th, 2011

For some time now I’ve been wanting to do a “photo a day” project. I’ve been wanting to do it for various reasons, including making sure I pick a camera up every day as sometimes I just get bogged down with the business side of things! So, every day of 2011 I am going to make sure I pick up a camera (D700, iPhone 4, Fuji Instamax, D70s, whatever it may be) and take a photo. I’ll endeavour to post the photos here every Tuesday for the previous 7 days, some photos will be from jobs, but seeing aim is to make sure that I make time to shoot for myself, a lot will be from personal happenings. So, I’ve put it out there now, let’s hope I don’t have commitment issues!

sneak peek : Brittany & Darryl

December 29th, 2010

When I woke up on the Monday after Christmas, I really thought it was a good thing that Brit & Daz had decided to have their wedding ceremony inside, I also thought it was going to be freezing. Turns out, by mid afternoon the clouds had cleared, the sun was shining and the inside ceremony meant we couldn’t hear all the festivities going on in the Glenelg parklands!

Brit & Daz were married in the function rooms at the Glenelg Pier Hotel, once the ceremony was over, the room was then transformed into the perfect cocktail reception venue while the happy couple and their guests enjoyed drinks and each others’ company in the bar. I did manage to steal the newlyweds away for a few photos outside (despite a camera-shy groom*), here are a few of my favourites from the day. There were many beautiful little details from the “kiss me quick” engraving on Daz’s wedding band to Brit’s “something old” being one of the cufflinks her grandfather wore on his wedding day. With family and friends from all corners of Australia travelling for the occasion, you can’t miss the love between these two, they just make each other happy, so happy!

Thank you for letting me be a part of your day and giving me the honour of photographing your wedding.

sneak peek : Jas & Trent

December 6th, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I did a quick 24 hour trip to Port Lincoln* to shoot a beautiful relaxed couple and their wedding. I had a bit of spare time between my early flight and going to shoot Jas getting ready, so decided to drop into The Port Lincoln Hotel and check it out before the ceremony. I ran into Trent putting the finishing touches on the reception room and he offered to go for a drive to check out the locations they had in mind (I said they were relaxed didn’t I?). Turns out Jas’ parents have this amazing block of land up on a hill with one nice view, it took a dirt road and a long winding track through scrub to get to a clearing where there will one day be a house, but boy was it worth it, a definite photo location! After a ceremony by the pool and family photos under a tree, we headed to the beach then up to the scrub then back to the reception.

These two had the most amazing playlist going on, every single song played during dinner was one of my all-time favourites. From Groove Armada to Pete Murray, it was brilliant, my recommendation: don’t just leave it all up to your DJ, your wedding music really can create a great mood and reflect your personalities! The bonbonnieri were bottles of wine made by Trent’s dad at his vineyard North of Adelaide, and Jas’ dad, who works on a prawn boat undoubtedly had something to do with the entree. I’ll post details of the florist who did the amazing flowers when their new website is up and running (Jas owns Momentum Design & Print and is currently re-building it for them). It was an absolute pleasure to fly to Port Lincoln to photograph your special day, thank you Jas & Trent and your families for making me feel so welcome, congratulations again.
